Children in the care of HCAS
Foster children range in age from infants to age 18 years, and come from a variety of
cultural, ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds. They could be a sibling group, and
may want to be placed together in a foster home.
Some children are in foster care with their parents’ consent, while others are in care under
a court order. Some children are in care due to conflict in the family, or because a parent
is ill. Others have families that are unable to provide adequate care or the necessities of
life. Some children are in foster care due to neglect and/or abuse.
